Act now to help avoid the misery associated with insurance claims caused by the cold weather 
After last year’s winter where as many as two million homes were affected in some way by the cold weather, it is important to be prepared for this year's cold weather and avoid similar devastating claims.
Over a third of insurance property claims costs are for damage caused by the escape of water, the most common being for the effects of a burst pipe.
Insurers want to reduce the number of customers that are caught out by the ravaging effects of an escape of water within the home or business as we approach the winter. Many insurers have produced guides can help our customers reduce the likelihood of water damage occurring, and, of course, the significant costs and inconvenience associated with these incidents.
This year we Ageas Insurance have again teamed up with the British Insurance Broker’s Association to help businesses and householders prevent internal water damage. A recent survey of householders showed that many people didn’t know how to switch off their water supply in an emergency. To help, Ageas Insurance have developed a free down-loadable fact sheet.
Ageas Insurance have also developed a Key Services Locator sticker that business owners and householders can complete and stick under their kitchen sink. The sticker guides everyone in the home or office to the whereabouts of the shut off valves to the water, gas and electricity and provides essential telephone numbers for use in an emergency.
