GUIDANCE NOTES ON PERSONAL ACCIDENT AND  SICKNESS CLAIMS

The personal accident benefits under a policy are fixed payments that the policyholder can claim if an insured person (this will be defined in the policy), suffers accidental bodily injury (or sickness, if you also have cover for sickness).

If the cover is under a company policy, there is no need for the injured person to prove that the company was legally responsible for their injury.

For the more serious injuries such as death, loss of limb and loss of sight, the policy provides a lump sum benefit.  For the smaller, more common injuries such as a broken arm or leg, the policy will provide a weekly benefit during the period of temporary total disablement, which can be up to a maximum of two years.

If the cover is on a business policy, it is the decision of the business as to how they use the money. They may decide to pass it on to the injured person, or they may decide to keep the money.  This could then help offset any losses, such as loss of production or the cost of employing temporary staff.

If an incident occurs,  please notify it to us or your insurance company as soon as possible. 

1. Please download and complete a claim form and forward it to us as soon as possible.

2. Please forward copies of the sick notes that have been issued by the insured person's GP or hospital, but do not wait for these to send the claim form to us.  Please send the claim form as soon as possible, in order that the insurance company may register the claim.
