Fire Risk Assessments for your business
Fire safety and risk assessment
New fire safety rules affecting all non-domestic premises in England and Wales came into force on 1 October 2006.
These regulations apply to you if you are:
- responsible for business premises
- an employer
- self-employed with business premises
- a charity or voluntary organisation
- a contractor with a degree of control over any premises
Now every organisation with five or more employees must undertake an assessment of the fire risks in order to maintain a safe working enviroment.
These requirements include:
-
Carrying out a fire risk assessment
-
The provision of firefighting and fire detection equipment
-
The provision of adequate means of escape (MoE)
-
The production of an effective fire action plan
-
The training of all staff in fire safety awareness
-
The training of fire wardens
-
The maintenance and recording of all provisions
